SPACE COAST DAILY TV: Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies shot a suicidal man after he became aggressive in an incident on Honey Lane in Grant-Valkaria, according to BCSO.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies shot a suicidal man after he became aggressive in an incident on Honey Lane in Grant-Valkaria, according to BCSO.

The incident began when family members of the man who was shot called 9-1-1 about 4:09 p.m. Thursday afternoon to report he was attempting to commit suicide.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said during a press conference that man was using an edged weapon to cut his arms.

Sheriff Ivey said Deputies attempted to subdue the man with a taser to stop him from cutting himself, but he then became aggressive and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Deputies involved in the shooting, who have not been identified, were placed on administrative leave while the Sheriff’s Office investigates the incident, which is standard protocol.
