Suspect taken into custody short time after shooting

Titusville police detectives are investigating a shooting death that happened Sunday at approximately 4 p.m. on Third Avenue near Booker Street.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville police detectives are investigating a shooting death that happened Sunday at approximately 4 p.m. on Third Avenue near Booker Street.

According to Titusville Police PIO Amy Mathews, the 16-year-old juvenile victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“The male juvenile suspect, of similar age, fled the scene on foot,” said Matthews.

“Based on witness information, officers located him on Nova Terrace a short time later. He was taken into custody without incident.”

The preliminary investigation reveals that there was some type of previous dispute between these two juveniles.

This is an active ongoing homicide investigation and the name of the victim has not yet been released. The name of the suspect will be released upon booking/charges.
