BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office latest episode of ‘Ask a Vet’ features Dr. Robert Edwards, DVM, of the BCSO Animal Care Center as he discusses whether pet insurance is worth the cost.

Dr. Edwards graduated from Virginia Tech’s Veterinary Medical Program in 2012.

He then spent two years in the greater Pittsburgh area working in an animal clinical practice. In 2014, Dr. Edwards’ wife, Captain Katy Dorsey, a U.S. Army Veterinarian, was stationed in Washington D.C.

Dr. Edwards relocated to the D.C. area and developed a passion for shelter care medicine working at a regional SPCA as the attending shelter Veterinarian.

In July 2015, Dr. Edwards relocated again to Brevard County after Captain Dorsey was assigned to Patrick Air Force Base.

Upon arrival in Brevard County, Dr. Edwards began working part-time with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office while also working as a Clinical Veterinarian at the SPCA of North Brevard’s low-cost Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Edwards was sworn-in as a full-time Staff Veterinarian in 2016 working closely with Dr. Sarah Boyd who serves as lead Veterinarian.
