BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – It is with deep sadness that we share the loss of one of our K-9’s, “Arco,” age 7 who unexpectedly passed away in his sleep last night.
“Arco,” who we all affectionately called “Donk,” because he looked like the donkey from Shrek was assigned to Corporal Shawn Crook of our K-9 Unit who was “Arco’s” best friend and partner since July of 2012.
Throughout his career with our agency “Arco” was recognized as one of the most aggressive and hardest hitting dogs we have ever employed. With over 50 apprehensions to his credit “Arco” was deployed hundreds of times in his 7 years of service to our community for fugitive apprehensions, drug searches, and presentations to citizens of all ages at schools and various community events.
“Arco” was an amazing member of our team who was always “amped up” and ready to work protecting his community and most importantly to him, his best friend and partner, Shawn!!
He will be deeply missed by our agency and we ask that you please keep Shawn, his wife Tabatha and their children in your thoughts and prayers as they face this most difficult time of losing not only their family pet, but a Law Enforcement Officer who dedicated his life to protecting our community!
