24-year-old Nkhondo Mhango arrested & charged

Palm Bay Police have released more information on the fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a man Friday afternoon on the 1400 Block of Wake Forest Rd. NW in Palm Bay.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police have released more information on the fatal stabbing that claimed the life of a man Friday afternoon on the 1400 Block of Wake Forest Rd. NW in Palm Bay.

The suspect has been identified 24-year-old Nkhondo Mhango from Palm Bay. Mhango has been charged with second-degree murder and aggravated battery.

Police say they were called the scene around 1:35 p.m. when they were dispatched to an armed disturbance with a possible stabbing.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man laying on the ground with multiple stab wounds. As a result, the victim died of his injuries a short time later.

The investigation has since revealed that the two men involved in the incident were roommates. After police conducted interviews from witnesses, they discovered that the roommates at the residence and had an argument over groceries being eaten.

That argument turned physical when the suspect, Mhango, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

The victim’s girlfriend was also injured during the incident and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

The suspect has been detained pending further investigations, according to the police.

The name of the victim will be released, once the next of kin has been notified.

Mhango was booked in the Brevard County Jail with no bond.

Homicide investigators are still processing the scene.
