BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Weather Service in Melbourne reminds everyone that this week is National Lightning Safety Awareness Week and that there is no safe place outside when thunderstorms are in the area.

Monday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 11 am. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Heat index values as high as 101. Light and variable wind becoming east southeast 5 to 10 mph in the morning. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Monday Night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 74. South southeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
