CURT SMITH: 'I really couldn’t care less what Randy Fine thinks'

State Representative Randy Fine (R-Palm Bay), left, sent a letter to State Attorney Phil Archer on Monday requesting an investigation and potential prosecution of sitting County Commissioner Curt Smith for using his official position to campaign for elected office. In reply, Smith said, “I really couldn’t care less what Randy Fine thinks or does as he is irrelevant to me and to most anyone who knows him.”

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – State Representative Randy Fine (R-Palm Bay) sent a letter to State Attorney Phil Archer on Monday requesting an investigation and potential prosecution of County Commissioner Curt Smith for using his official position to campaign for elected office.

“There is no question that Curt Smith, while sitting on the dais in an official County Commission meeting and being broadcast on live TV and before the media and his constituents, used his Commissioner report to campaign for reelection,” said Fine in a press release.

“We cannot allow commissioners to campaign from the dais. This kind of blatant misuse of office re-enforces the culture of corruption that pervades Brevard County. It must stop, and I hope that State Attorney Archer will use this blatant disregard for the law to make an example.”

Smith, who was first elected to the Brevard County Commision in 2014, is running for re-election in District 4 against Trudie Infantini in the Republican primary on August 28. The winner will then face Democrat Matthew Fleming in the General Election in November.

“I really couldn’t care less what Randy Fine thinks or does as he is irrelevant to me and to most anyone who knows him,” said Smith.

“He is supporting my opponent and doing everything he can to damage my good name. Fortunately, voters are extremely smart and will see through his deceitful and negative attacks.

“I think he needs to start worrying about his own election this fall.  This is exactly what President Trump calls Fake News!”
