State Road 520 In Merritt Island Reopened After Natural Gas Leak Near Merritt Square Mall

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard officials have announced Tuesday morning that State Road 520 has reopened in Merritt Island after a natural gas leak along the Merritt Island Causeway between Sykes Creek and Plumosa St. near Merritt Square Mall.
The incident was reported at about 7 p.m. Monday night in the 700 block of East Merritt Island Causeway.
No evacuations were ordered.
The leak was from a 4-inch line.
The Brevard County Sheriff’s Deputies and Brevard Fire Rescue units were on the scene and directed traffic on to Borman Drive during the closure.
