Brevard County Fire Rescue Honored With Life Saving Award After Rescue of Child in Merritt Island Blaze

ABOVE VIDEO: Brevard County Fire Rescue Station 41, A-Shift, was presented with a Life-Saving plaque by a representative of the 3M-Scott Safety company on Tuesday for a rescue they made during an apartment fire using one of their thermal imaging cameras.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Fire Rescue Station 41, A-Shift, was presented with a Life-Saving plaque by a representative of the 3M-Scott Safety company on Tuesday for a rescue they made during an apartment fire using one of their thermal imaging cameras.

The fire occurred on March 3 at the Hampton Court apartments, located at 55 Needle Boulevard in Merritt Island.

Brevard County Fire Rescue firefighters located and rescued a 10-year old boy huddled in the bedroom in a heavy smoke-filled house using one of 3M’s thermal imaging cameras.

Following the rescue, the victim was transferred to First Flight, who transported the injured child to Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando.

According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, the cause of the fire was believed to be cooking-related and the best news is the child who was injured has since made a full recovery.
