HEALTH & NUTRITION: Top 3 Unhealthy Weight Loss Diets You Must Never, Ever Try
By Space Coast Daily // August 30, 2018
Data from the World Health Organization states that over 1.9 billion people of the planet’s adult population are overweight. Millions of those people are trying to lose weight and literally put themselves in danger by following unhealthy nutritional and exercise guidelines.
You need to be aware of what the most dangerous weight loss diet plans are. This way, you can steer away from them and advise your friends and loved ones not to take risks with these fad diets.
3 Weight Loss Diets Worst for Your Health
Baby food diet
Baby food diet is exactly what it says on the tin. It urges you to eat up to 14 jars of baby food a day. Note that these diet ‘guidelines’ aren’t officially listed anywhere because this parody of a sound nutrition plan cannot be approved by any educated dietician.
Nutritional deficiencies, as well as overall weakness, fatigue, anemia, and health risks that come from not getting enough calories to keep your body healthy, are the usual consequences of this weight loss plan.
‘Illegal’ and ‘fraudulent’ are only a few of the words that FDA uses to describe the HCG diet. HCG products are literally banned because they are so dangerous. The HCG diet plan as a whole is a health suicide because it calls for consuming measly 500 calories a day aptly supplemented with specialized human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) products.
In theory, this should help you shed 1-2 pounds per day without feeling hungry. In reality, this can result in extreme weight loss, but that will come at a price of malnutrition, heart problems, high risk of kidney and liver issues, anemia, fainting spells, and who knows what else as HCG products aren’t regulated.
Please note, there is nothing wrong with using some weight loss supplements to enhance the efficiency of your diet. Many of the acclaimed modern products can benefit your health in many ways and you can also enhance your meal plan with natural appetite suppressants. However, regardless of what HCG product manufacturers say, those are neither natural, nor safe. And eating 500 calories a day can only be allowed in extreme cases of medical necessity when the patient remains under constant supervision.
It sounds crazy, but the current fad literally calls people to drink clay to lose weight. The idea behind this is that clay removes toxins and fills you up to suppress hunger and help you eat less. Whatever other things the advocates of this diet might claim, there is no scientific evidence whatsoever that detox diets work in general, let alone one that has you eating clay.
While it’s true that some types of clay have been used in alternative medicine, these remedies are usually applied topically. When you actually ingest clay, it damages the lining of your digestive tract and prevents nutrient absorption. This can cause nutritional deficiencies and severe digestive problems. Doing this often can cause great damage to your gut, which will affect your health on every level. And that influence won’t be good in the least.
