BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools (BPS) and the Brevard Federation of Teachers (BFT) have finalized a settlement resolving the outstanding compensation issue affecting first-year teachers.

The collaborative agreement was presented to a neutral arbitrator, who recommended that the parties agree.

Under the terms of the agreement, first-year teachers hired by October 28, 2025, who remain actively employed with BPS as of April 16, 2026, will receive a one-time $750 payment on May 29, 2026.

The payment will be subject to standard payroll withholding. Approximately 530 teachers are expected to qualify.

The agreement addresses first-year teachers who were not included in the district’s recent 2% salary increase.

Both organizations affirmed their shared interest in supporting new educators and maintaining workforce stability.

All eligible employees, including those covered by this agreement, will receive the negotiated raises for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years, contingent upon continued employment with Brevard Public Schools.

BPS and BFT have also agreed to meet within the next 30 days to update the collective bargaining agreement language to reflect necessary adjustments.
