BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The top teams from around the state will be playing in the 2018 ITA Regional Championships at Eastern Florida State College’s Titan Tennis Center on the Melbourne campus.

The three-day tournament begins Friday morning with singles and doubles titles on the line. The tournament continues all weekend with the finals slated for Sunday.

The champions in singles and doubles will advance to the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Indian Wells, California.

“It is nice to host and such an advantage because we don’t have to travel and home court advantage is huge in a tournament like this,” Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis coach Bobby Cashman said.

“It will be interesting to see how we do this weekend against some good competition. It is going to be warm again so players will have to be fit.”

Hillsborough’s Hana Kvapilova is back after winning the event last year and will be one of the players to watch this weekend.

“Kvapilova is returning, ASA has some terrific players, Manatee is much improved this year so you are going to see a different tournament this year,” Cashman said.

Eastern Florida State College’s Valeria Arevalo and Shaeda Nickle will both be in the hunt for this year’s title.

“It will be interesting to see how we do with Val back and Shaeda performing against some good competition,” Cashman said.
