Five-Acre Sporting Complex Designed Specifically For People With Special Needs

The new, $5.5 million, 5-acre sporting complex was designed for those with special needs and is a destination spot for families with special needs members who live throughout Central Florida.

BREVARD COUNTY • WEST MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Field of Dreams will host its first annual League Demonstration and Donor Wall of Fame unveiling celebration on Friday, September 8, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the organization’s facilities located on Minton Road in West Melbourne.

This free event will feature informational practice runs of all Space Coast Field of Dreams sports leagues, as well as music, food, games and the unveiling of the new Space Coast Field of Dreams donor Wall of Fame. Demonstrations will include youth baseball, golf, basketball and soccer.

This year’s Space Coast Field of Dreams leagues include multiple divisions available for all ages groups and abilities, designed to help players learn the rules and basic techniques of each sport on a non-competitive basis.

Space Coast Field of Dreams is a place where physically and developmentally disabled individuals can play sports alongside with able-body buddies. Programs provide special need and able-bodied leagues that are lead by experienced coaches who inspire and motivate players.

The park has a 15,000 square-foot lighted baseball field with rubber safety surfacing, an 11,000 sq. ft. lit soccer field with three individual practice/play areas with rubber safety surfacing.

Just about every outdoor sport is covered, including an 11,000 square-foot lighted basketball court with two individual practice/play areas with rubber safety surfacing.

Space Coast Field of Dreams is a place where physically and developmentally disabled individuals can play sports alongside with able-body buddies. Programs provide special need and able-bodied leagues that are lead by experienced coaches who inspire and motivate players.

Leagues are played on a non-competitive basis and does not keep score nor play in competitive games against any outside teams. Leagues are like clinics, set up to allow players of all abilities to learn the fundamentals and basics of each sport.

In addition to league demonstrations on Sept. 8, this event will feature a ribbon cutting to unveil the Space Coast Field of Dreams new donor Wall of Fame which recognizes the founding sponsors and contributors that made the facility possible.

Check-in will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by the ribbon cutting ceremonies for the unveiling of the donor Wall of Fame at 11 a.m. League demonstrations will follow along with food, music and games.

Space Coast Field of Dreams is located across from Calvary Chapel in West Melbourne at the intersection of Minton and Fell Road.
