BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA– If you missed the Viera Hawks and Cocoa Tigers shootout on Friday night, the good news is you can watch the replay right here on Space Coast Daily.
The game was an instant classic, as the two teams combined for over 1,000 yards of offense and 91 total points.
Those watching either in person or at home were treated to a battle of two sophomore quarterbacks as Viera played their first game at Hawks Stadium since falling to Plant in last years playoffs.
Neither quarterback disappointed.
For Viera, Bryce Norton accounted for all seven of his teams’ touchdowns as he threw for four, ran for two and even caught one on a play very similar to the one the Philadelphia Eagles ran in last years Super Bowl.
Nortons numbers were mind-numbing as he passed for 350 yards, rushed for 135 and his one TD reception was good for 15 yards. Norton amassed 500 total yards of offense.
Not to be outdone, Cocoa’s sophomore gunslinger, Diego Arroyo, passed for 418 total yards and four touchdowns.
The Hawks 49-42 win was their first ever over the Tigers on the gridiron and allowed Viera to move to 2-3 on the season with district play starting Friday night.
Viera will host Melbourne in a District 7A-6 Clash at home while the Tigers, who fell to 2-2, travel down south to play Glades Central in a critical Region 4A contest.
Be sure to tune in Wednesday night for ‘Talking Football’ with Space Coast Daily’s Alan Zlotorzynnski as he recaps Week 5 and previews Week 6 of the high school season.
