Cocoa Police Promotes Cpl. Willie Stephenson to Sergeant and Officer Jeff Taylor to Corporal

Cocoa Police Chief Mike Cantaloupe makes announcement
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Cocoa Police Chief Mike Cantaloupe announced the promotions of two officers to the positions of corporal and sergeant.
Cpl. Willie Stephenson was promoted to sergeant and is assigned to supervise the Foxtrot Squad. Sgt. Stephenson began his service in Cocoa in 2007.
He has been assigned to the Patrol Division, Honor Guard, Street Crimes Unit, Game Over Task Force, and Field Training Officer. Sgt. Stephenson earned an associate degree from Eastern Florida State College.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and received a Purple Heart for injuries received in combat.
Officer Jeff Taylor was promoted to corporal and is currently assigned to assist with the supervision of the Bravo Squad. Cpl. Taylor began his career with the Cocoa Police Department on September 27, 1999.
Cpl. Taylor has served in various roles during his tenure including, Field Training Officer, SWAT, Motor Unit, Investigations, Honor Guard and Traffic Homicide Investigator. Cpl. Taylor’s promotion became effective on October 1.
“I’m proud of both of these officers for their hard work in becoming leaders in this agency,” said Chief Mike Cantaloupe.
“I confident our citizens will appreciate the knowledge and professionalism they bring to the department.”
