BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech women’s basketball was ranked eighth in the 2018-19 Sunshine State Conference’s Preseason Poll, announced by the league office Wednesday.

Florida Southern, the 2017 SSC champion, earned 10 first-place votes and was picked to defend its title.

Eckerd, who finished third in the league last season, follows the Mocs at No. 2 in the poll and garnered the final first-place vote.

Tampa, Embry-Riddle, Nova Southeastern and Barry round out the top half of the poll. Rollins preceded Florida Tech in the seven and eighth spot.

Saint Leo, Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic are the bottom three teams.

The Panthers are set to open their season against Claflin in the SSC-SIAC Challenge on Friday, Nov. 9. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. ET.
