UPDATE: 84-Year-Old Titusville Man Killed In US-1 Crash Identified

A Titusville man was killed early Tuesday morning after a pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction crashed head-on with the victim’s car on US-1 and Birch St.

UPDATE: Titusville Police have identified the victim killed in Tuesday’s crash as 84-year-old Melvin Merle McQuillen from Titusville.

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A Titusville man, later identified as 84-year-old Merle McQuillen, was killed early Tuesday morning after a pickup truck traveling in the wrong direction crashed head-on with McQuillen’s car on US-1 and Birch St.

The investigation has revealed that McQuillen was traveling northbound on US-1 near Birch St. when a green 2005 Ford F-150 truck, driven by 55-year-old Hector Rodriguez from Titusville, collided head-on with the victim’s Cadillac.

Police say Rodriguez was traveling south on northbound US-1.

McQuillen was pronounced dead at the scene, while Rodriguez was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Titusville Police Department.
