Florida Tech Basketball Tipoff Against Georgia Tech in Preseason Exhibition Contest Set For Tonight

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech men’s basketball team will take the court of the McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta, Georgia to open its preseason schedule with an exhibition contest against Georgia Tech on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Panthers, who were picked to finish 11th in the Sunshine State Conference last week, are taking on the Ramblin’ Wreck for the first time in program history. Georgia Tech was selected to finish 13th in the Atlantic Coast Conference when the ACC’s Preseason Media Poll was released on Oct. 25.
The Crimson & Gray bring back three starters from last year’s team, including R.J. Coil who averaged 10.7 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Georgia Tech brings back four starters, plus third-leading scorer Jose Alvarado (12.1 ppg) who started 25 games during the 2017-18 season
Florida Tech head coach Billy Mims enters his 14th season at the helm of the program, while Josh Pastner enters his third season as head coach of the Yellow Jackets, who posted a 13-19 record a year ago.
