BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The Merritt Island Mustangs girls soccer team will take the pitch tonight in the regional quarterfinal versus Poinciana on Space Coast Daily TV.

The game starts at 7 p.m.

The Mustangs (15-4-1) have been on fire since their 3-3 start on the season. Since their 2-0 loss against Titusville on Nov. 28, the Mustangs have outscored their opponents 56-2 in 14 games.

First-year head coach Matt Cermack took over for the longtime head coach of the Mustangs Scott Carswell in October. He will hope to lead the defending back-to-back state champion Mustangs to their third straight state championship.

Jordan “JoJo” Michaels

The Mustangs are led by their forward Jordan “JoJo” Michaels who leads the team with 17 goals on the year. Michaels also played on the Orlando Pride U-18/19 last year in the U.S. Development Academy.

Defensively, goalkeeper Jordan Tomberlin has been a nightmare for opposing offenses by recording an astounding 42 saves and only allowing six total goals all year.

Tuesday night’s broadcast will be aired live on Space Coast Daily TV with Roger Malone and Giles Malone on the call.
