Paul Tucker, 66, killed in Friday's crash

The result of the crash killed 66-year-old Paul Tucker from Cocoa.

UPDATE: The driver killed in the Friday morning crash has been identified as 66-year-old Paul Tucker from Cocoa. The other driver who was taken to the hospital with serious injuries has been identified as 20-year-old Samuel Lewis from Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Rescue crews responded to a deadly two-vehicle crash Friday morning near Port Canaveral that briefly shutdown westbound SR-528 and Highway 401.

The result of the crash killed 66-year-old Paul Tucker from Cocoa.

The crash happened around 11:25 a.m.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Samuel Lewis from Cocoa was driving his 2018 Dodge pickup truck when he suddenly crossed over the grass median from eastbound SR-528 and into oncoming traffic on westbound SR-528 at mile marker 53.

Lewis then crashed into Tucker who was driving westbound on SR-528 in his 2002 Ford pickup truck.

Tucker was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Lewis was taken to Cape Canaveral hospital with serious injuries.

Troopers are still investigating what caused Lewis to swerve across the median and into oncoming traffic

The result of the crash caused major delays as crews worked to cleanup the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol says charges against Lewis are pending as the investigation continues.
