Joey Hickson, CEO of Integrate Social, On How to Build a Successful Social Media Marketing Agency
By Space Coast Daily // June 15, 2019

Building an online presence, whether it’s through Instagram, Facebook or the latest and greatest social media site takes hard work and dedication. It also takes someone who knows what they are doing if you are in the dark about what “followers” means and need to start from the bottom of the ladder.
Take the case of Joseph Kenneth Hickson, the founder, and CEO of Integrate Social Group – a highly successful social media marketing agency he started from the ground up.
The San Mateo-resident and single father of two kids, Mason and Gianna, is no stranger to the world of social media marketing. He’s been at it for the last decade, growing stronger, and helping others do the same at a fast pace.
“I was in tech sales when Instagram came out and I was an early adopter on the platform. I was able to use that early adaption to grow my network,” he said.
Hickson was also associated with Citrix as a senior sales representative and a mentor for new hires.
“The job allowed me to work from home which gave me flexibility, and even when Instagram came out, I was able to spend a lot of time when I wasn’t working to learn the app,” he said.
Hickson must be doing something right since he began; he has created a 20-million-follower network and helped people build their personal brand.
In the past, he has worked with clients such as Gary Vee, Cody Sperber also known as the ‘clever investor,’ Cody Alt, Matthew Morgan, Jason Vedadi, Fashion Nova, FitTea, Happy Tea, Shredz, Flo Rida, Empire Records, Capitol Records, and many music artists since he owned one of the largest music Instagram accounts, ‘singers.’
He adds, “Social Media marketing can be a tricky game. Your content is the cornerstone of your marketing. When you share graphics and engage in witty repartee, the purpose is to gain interest and entice people to want to learn more. But while a great visual may get you lots of shares, it’s not going to convert customers. Content is the real thing.”
Helping Small Businesses
While he is open to helping anyone who wants to grow their online and social media presence, he said he likes to give aid to smaller clients and businesses that are interested in promoting themselves.
“With so many entrepreneurs and self-employed people out there, I really enjoy giving insight into those who have smaller businesses,” said Hickson.
Joey has had hundreds of clients over the last 9 years, aspiring to promote their product or grow their following so they can reap the rewards of having such a following on social media channels.
He adds, “I know what it’s like to start out small and need help, so this is my way of giving back to those businesses owners who need assistance in becoming successful in their own industries. It’s a great feeling when I see them succeeding and their following growing from zero to the thousands.”
