BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – The caring staff at Cedar Creek Life Center on gorgeous Merritt Island are committed to making sure every resident in the community feel like they’re family, Executive Director Jason Rodriguez says.

“Starting on the day a resident moves in, this becomes their home and they become part of our family,” said Rodriguez.

Rodriguez brings to Cedar Creek extensive experience from a diverse background in hospitals, assisted living and nursing facilities.

“From the start of my career, I have had the drive to provide the greatest care to my residents. My wife has always fueled me to keep moving forward and make every day better than the last for our residents,” said Rodriguez.

“If it wasn’t for her motivation, I wouldn’t be here today doing what I love.”

Rodriguez said the goal is to provide the highest quality-of-life possible for each of the residents.

“Our staff believes in the philosophy that we work in their home,” he said. “We treat every one of our residents as if they are the most important person in our lives.”

Caring Nursing Staff

Cedar Creek’s newest addition to their management team is Elouise Shore, LPN., who, as the facility’s new Resident Care Director, is overseeing their outstanding nursing department.

“From the start of my career, I have had the drive to provide the greatest care to my residents. My wife has always fueled me to keep moving forward and make every day better than the last for our residents,” said Cedar Creek Executive Director Jason Rodriguez.

“Ms. Shore has worked with me and most my management team for the past three years,” said Rodriguez.

“She brings amazing and exciting energy to the team. She has always believed in providing the greatest care and treating the wonderful residents in our community as her own loved ones.”

New floors in apartments and updated landscaping, including gardening areas for residents to nurture are some of the updates and improvements made recently.

“Upon becoming a Cedar Creek resident, we offer a variety of options to meet their needs,” Rodriguez said, adding that other changes, like gourmet dishes prepared by culinary trained chefs, also enhance the new Cedar Creek living style.

“Our Dietary Director, Javontay Bailey will help in customizing a menu plan and our chefs are constantly improving food quality. The culinary team focuses on producing quality, scratch dishes with only the freshest of ingredients.”

With such a wide range of experience, and as a multistate regional director and executive director, Rodriguez truly believes this group of employees are by far the most outstanding.

“They are such a phenomenal group of people, from the caring nursing staff to the attention to details housekeeping team, and let’s not forget the hard-working maintenance and dietary departments,” he said.

“We have such a solid group of professionals that feel our residents are our family. It is such a privilege for me to work beside this group that strives to meet and exceed the expectations of our residents – and help lead them into making this community become the premier senior community in Brevard County.”

Additional amenities include weekly housekeeping and laundry services, restaurant-style meal services, a variety of activities, and even transportation five days a week to a large variety of outings.

“We travel to everything from standard doctor appointments to lunch trips and shopping,” said Rodriguez.

“In the coming months, we are partnering up with some remarkable community organizations to provide a larger range of activities and programs. It’s about taking the inside world out and bringing the outside world in…where assisted living meets independent living.”

Family Values

Cedar Creek has a wonderful community featuring outstanding family involvement throughout the building: From the resident’s loved ones who are intimately involved to the staff’s families who have assisted from everything to crafts, entertainment and even trips.

“Our Programming Director Lisa Jenkins has had the privilege of having her kids help with some major holiday events and has some exciting things planned for this year’s Christmas events,” said Rodriguez.

“I have also had the pleasure of having my wonderful wife Lora and our five children involved in events over the years. From Christmas caroling to BBQ’s, and even as recent as this past Veteran’s Day event when my son Skylier’s JROTC class from Merritt Island High came to present the colors to our remarkable residents.”

Even during hurricane evacuation, most of Cedar Creek’s staff families helped in taking care of our residents with doing activities, helping serve meals, and even just spending time with them.

“We want everyone to have the opportunity to enjoy the new amenities inside the building, but also want to give them the option to enjoy the world outside these walls,” said Rodriguez about outings for residents to space launches, plays, fishing trips and so much more.
