BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – Port Canaveral is giving local students the opportunity to become young ambassadors for the upcoming 2019-2020 school year.
The Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners’ Junior Ambassador Program will enable students at nine public high schools and two private high schools within the Canaveral Port Authority Special District to share career opportunities at the Port and provide workforce development and community outreach.
Home-schoolers and Clearlake Adult Education Program students up to age 19 also will be eligible.
“We are excited to share a new opportunity at Port Canaveral for students,” said Commission Vice Chair Robyn Hattaway.
“Our committee has worked many hours to thoughtfully design a program to reach high school students within the Port District.”
During the school year, students in grades 9 through 12 will meet with Port leaders in such areas as cruise, cargo, recreation, hospitality, environment and recreation.
The students’ final project will be a presentation that features what they’ve learned. Junior ambassadors will share their presentations with the Commission and with students at their schools.
Applications are due Wednesday, Aug. 21.
