Melbourne Police Arrest Stephen McGuire For Battery After Striking Two FPL Employees

FPL worker entered the backyard of the residence to access a transformer on a pole

According to a Melbourne police report, Stephen McGuire, 39, was arrested on two counts of Battery after intentionally touching or striking two FPL employees.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police officers responded to Village Park Drive on Saturday after a report of Florida Power and Light workers being battered by one of the nearby residents while in the process of their duties.

According to a Melbourne police report, Stephen McGuire, 39, was arrested on two counts of Battery after intentionally touching or striking two people.

According to the police report, an FPL worker entered the backyard of the residence of 2533 Village Pant Ebbe to access a transformer on a pole.

While walking into the backyard the FPL worker was aggressively confronted by McGuire at which time the FPL employee identified himself and the reason for his visit.

According to the police report, McGuire then pushed the FPL employee with both hands in his upper chest while shouting obscenities.

The FPL employee again told McGuire his identity and began to retreat out of the yard. While backing away, McGuire struck the FPL employee, grazing his lower chin, and knocking off his hardhat.

During this action, another FPL employee and a witness entered the backyard due to the commotion and McGuire told the three to leave his yard.

While exiting the yard, McGuire told one of the FPL workers that he was not walking out fast enough, and kicked him in his lower back area.

McGuire was placed under arrest for two counts of Battery and transported to the Melbourne Police Department and booked. He was then taken to the Brevard County Sheriffs Office Jail.
