The shelter said it was full and had no room for the dog and told Perry they would not euthanize the dog. Perry then shoved the dog into the trunk of the hot car.

Members of the animal shelter staff took images of Perry’s license plate and Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement was then contacted immediately.

“As a result of the investigation our team was able to identify the suspect, locate the dog, and take the dog into custody as the dog was visibly emaciated and appeared to be uncared for,” said Sheriff Ivey.

Perry was arrested Thursday and is facing felony animal abuse charges.
