BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Chef Kyle Hash of 28 North Gastropub in Viera has been selected to attend the 2019 Markon/Mushroom Council Blended Burger Chef Summit Recipe Contest in Monterrey, California.

Hash’s mushroom burger recipe was selected from hundreds of entrants to be a part of the competition.

The challenge was part of a joint effort between Markon & Mushroom Council and the James Beard Better Burger Contest to create a more sustainable burger, adopting the idea that people can still enjoy meat while reducing the amount of beef required to create a burger.

The competition requires that chefs use a unique recipe with 25 percent mushroom in the burger patty since mushrooms are easier to cultivate and blend well with meat.

“It was awesome having an opportunity to represent me and my food around industry chefs and professionals outside my culinary bubble,” said Hash.

Chef Hash has been the head chef at 28 North since its opening in February. Before that, he was the head chef at 28 North’s sister restaurant Pizza Gallery & Grill.
