BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A Titusville man was arrested Wednesday night after an investigation by Titusville police detectives into the unintentional shooting of a juvenile.

Just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Titusville Police responded to a report of a 13-year-old boy being accidentally shot at a home on Yorkshire Drive, according to Titusville police spokesperson Amy Matthews.

“The boy had been shot in the torso area and was transported to a trauma center by helicopter with serious injuries,” said Matthews.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Bryan Gabriel Kelly, 40, of Yorkshire Drive in Titusville was in his home attempting to unload a handgun.

According to Matthews, Kelly unintentionally discharged the weapon that subsequently struck a 13 year-old child in the home.

“Witness statements corroborate the suspect’s description of the incident and investigators found no evidence of a willful or intentional act,” said Matthews.

Kelly was booked into Brevard County Jail and charged with Aggravated Child Neglect with Great Bodily Harm, (Felony) and is being held on a $2,000 bond.

Matthews said that the child is currently in stable condition.
