SPACE COAST DAILY TV: Viera-Suntree Little League Baseball is celebrating at Pizza Gallery and Grill as the Juniors All-Stars prepare to head to the World Series in Taylor, Michigan.

BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Viera Suntree Little League Juniors made their mark last weekend as they posted a perfect 4-0 record in winning the Southeast Regional tournament in Broadway, Virginia.

The state champion Viera Suntree Little League Juniors is managed by Jason Allen and players heading to Juniors Division Regionals are Aaron Brand, Luke Campbell, Lucas Glendinning, Apollos Horrell, Luc Iten, Dylan Jordan, Logan Keith, Luke McDonough, Cameron Ruston, Cameron Simpkins, Cole Smith, Blake Strode, Brycen Weeks and Camden Wicker; and coaches include John Glendinning and Dustin Keith.

The team lit up their opponents with 46 runs en route to going undefeated and winning the championship.

The Viera Suntree Juniors opened the tourney with an 11-8 victory over Georgia, followed by a 7-1 win against North Carolina, 12-7 win over Tennesee, and then shellacked South Carolina 16-1 in the championship game.

The Viera Suntree Little League Juniors’ caravan is now preparing to depart for the Little League Junior World Series, which will be played Aug. 11-18 in Taylor, Michigan.

The team will open the tournament on Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. when they take on Maryland, which won the East Regional championship.

The Junior League World Series is a baseball tournament is for players aged 13, 14 and 15 years old and is held annually at Heritage Park in Taylor, Michigan, which is near Detroit.

It is patterned after the Little League World Series, which was named for the World Series in Major League Baseball.

In addition to teams six teams from around the U.S., China, Australia, Canada, Italy, Mexico and Puerto Rico will also compete in the series.

The Viera Suntree Junior League Baseball World Series games will be aired live on ESPN2.

Although Little League International is assisting the players and coaches with airfare expense, the team will do some fundraising and have a celebration at Pizza Gallery & Grill at The Avenue Viera starting at 6 p.m on Wednesday.

The public is encouraged to come out and cheer our champs on as they seek to bring Brevard its second-ever Junior League Baseball World Series championship.

Rockledge won the Junior League Baseball World Series in 2012 with a dramatic extra-inning victory as they defeated Aruba 12-10 in eight innings before a worldwide television audience.
