FHP UPDATE: Two Melbourne Residents Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 1 Identified

Peter Avner, 81, of Melbourne and Rabilal Nandlal, 68, of Melbourne were killed

Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon on U.S 1 and Silver Oak Boulevard. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Peter Avner, 81, of Melbourne and Rabilal Nandlal, 68, of Melbourne were killed in a head-on collision.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM SHORES, FLORIDA – Two people were killed in a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon on U.S 1 and Silver Oak Boulevard.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Peter Avner, 81, of Melbourne and Rabilal Nandlal, 68, of Melbourne were killed in a head-on collision.

According to Lt. Kim Montes of the Florida Highway Patrol,  Avner was traveling northbound on U.S. 1 driving a 2017 KIA SUV, as Nandlal was traveling southbound on U.S. 1 in a 2016 Nissan pickup truck.

Lt. Montes said that Avner lost control of his SUV and traveled into the southbound lanes and crashed into Nandlal.

After the initial collision, the front left of Avner’s SUV struck the right, rear of Nandlal’s pick truck.

Two other vehicles crashed into each other as a result of the head-on collision.

Takisha Webber, 36, of Melbourne received minor injuries, while Fatemeh Joudaki, 53, of Rockledge, was uninjured.

Lt. Montes said this crash remains under investigation.
