BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Florida Tech football’s 2019 season opener has experienced a time change due to the effects of Hurricane Dorian.
The Panthers were originally scheduled to take the field against Savannah State on Saturday, Sept. 8, but will now play Sunday, Sept. 8.
Kickoff at Theodore Wright Stadium is set for 2 p.m.
Florida Tech is heading into the game after an impressive 2018 season in which the team went 8-4 and 5-3 in the Gulf South Conference.
It was the Panthers’ fourth winning season in the first six years of the program. Following the regular season, Tech earned a berth into the NCAA Division II Playoffs for the second time in the last three seasons.
Savannah State enters the contest coming off a 2-8 season a year ago while participating in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision level as a part of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
The Tigers are now back in Division II and are a member of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
