SPACE COAST DAILY TV THURSDAY MORNING WEATHER REPORT: Space Coast Daily’s Chris Bonanno discusses Brevard’s weather for Thursday and talks about a tropical wave that could bring rain to our area.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The National Hurricane Center has forecast a tropical wave, currently in the southwest Atlantic over the Turks and Caicos, has a 50 percent chance of developing into a tropical depression as early as Friday over the Bahamas or South Florida.

The National Hurricane Center forecast ups the chances to 70 percent of the wave developing in the next five days.

The National Hurricane Center released this forecast at 8 p.m. on Wednesday:

Although limited development of this system is anticipated Wednesday night and Thursday, conditions are forecast to become a little more conducive for tropical cyclone formation over the weekend, and a tropical depression is likely to form as the system moves slowly toward the west-northwest across the Florida Straits and southeastern Florida, and into the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

This disturbance will likely produce periods of locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds across the Bahamas through Friday, and across Florida during the weekend.

An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the system Thursday afternoon, if necessary.

• Formation chance through 48 hours…medium…50 percent.
• Formation chance through 5 days…high…70 percent.
