Palm Bay Police Identify Man Who Wounded Two, Killed Himself on Fallon Boulevard Thursday

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police detectives have identified the man in the domestic violence shooting on Fallon Boulevard as Robert Joseph Franklin, 42, of Palm Bay.

Palm Bay Police Lt. Steve Bland said on Thursday at approximately 7:10 a.m., Palm Bay police and fire rescue units responded to a 9-1-1 call advising that a 17-year-old male and his grandmother had been shot.

“Arriving officers secured the scene as Fire Rescue personnel provided lifesaving care, transporting the victims to a local hospital,” said Lt. Bland.

“The suspect Robert Franklin Jr. barricaded himself inside the family home for a short time before taking his own life.”

Officers and investigators remained on scene into the afternoon conducting interviews and collecting evidence.

The area was clear with normal traffic by 1 p.m. Both victims were expected to survive their injuries.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – One person is dead and two others were wounded after a shooting incident on the 1600 block of Fallon Boulevard NE on Thursday morning, according to Lt. Steve Bland with the Palm Bay Police Department. 

As part of the incident, a male shooting suspect shot a female and a 17-year-old boy, Bland said.

Palm Bay Police Chief Nelson Moya said that the 17-year-old boy called 911 at 7:10 a.m. and said he had been shot in the leg.

The male suspect later took his own life, Bland said, as part of what is likely a domestic incident.

“It appears that they were all related,” Bland said.

Nearby Port Malabar Elementary School was placed on lockdown as the situation unfolded, but that was lifted after 9 a.m.
