U.S. Coast Guard Searching for Missing Paddleboarder Dressed as ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’

left Hunter Springs Park Saturday evening and has not returned, search began Monday morning

At approximately 1 a.m., Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received notification from Citrus County Sheriff of a 43-year-old male paddle boarder, dressed as “Captain Jack Sparrow,” who left Hunter Springs Park Saturday evening and has not returned. 

(U.S. COAST GUARD) – The Coast Guard is searching for a missing paddleboarder in Crystal River, Monday.

At approximately 1 a.m., Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received notification from Citrus County Sheriff of a 43-year-old male paddle boarder, dressed as “Captain Jack Sparrow,” who left Hunter Springs Park Saturday evening and has not returned. 

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk conducted a search last night, and a Coast Guard Station Yankeetown 29-foot Response Boat-Small boatcrew began searching Monday morning.

Citrus County Sheriff’s personnel are also searching for the individual.

Anyone with information regarding the person should contact Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg Command Center personnel at 727-824-7506.
