Last season, Murphy was voted a Second Team All-SSC selection after finishing as the 2018-19 Sunshine State Conference scoring champion at 23.1 points per game while shooting 42.9% from the floor.
The Detroit, Michigan product reached double-figure scoring in all 28 games for the Panthers as well as recorded 10 double-doubles.

“This honor is just the next step in an incredible journey by one of the hardest-working players I’ve ever coached. Derek’s commitment to always getting better is off the charts. He epitomizes Florida Tech’s new motto. ‘The Relentless Pursuit of Greatness’ is a perfect description of Derek Murphy!”
