Space Coast Marathon is Florida’s oldest
WATCH the 2018 Space Coast Marathon and Half-Marathon highlights. The Running Zone Foundation and Space Coast Runners will present the 48th running of the Space Coast Marathon and Half-Marathon – Florida’s oldest marathon on Sunday, Dec. 1.
BREVARD COUNTY • THE SPACE COAST, FLORIDA – The Running Zone Foundation and Space Coast Runners will present the 48th running of the Space Coast Marathon and Half-Marathon – Florida’s oldest marathon on Sunday, Dec. 1.
The event is co-hosted by the Running Zone Foundation and Space Coast Runners and is Florida’s oldest marathon. Participants this year hail from about 50 different countries.
This Boston Marathon-qualifying event is part of both the Space Coast Runners Runner of the Year Series and the Running Zone Race Series.
Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame runner David Kilgore of Palm Bay has won the Space Coast Marathon four consecutive years and will be back once again to defend his title.
Kilgore, who had a remarkable high school career at Holy Trinity Episcopal School, is one of the top runners to ever come from the Space Coast and was inducted into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame in 2017.
“Runners and walkers alike will experience one of the most beautiful USATF certified waterfront courses on the east coast of Florida,” said event organizer Denise Piercy.

SCHEDULE:
Full Marathon – Start: 6 a.m.
Course Time Limit: 7 hours
North Half Marathon – Start: 6 a.m.
Faster than the speed of light: Under 3:30 expected finishing time
South Half Marathon – Start: 6 a.m.
Pluto’s Orbit: No time requirement /7-hour time limit

As part of the celebration of the Space Coast, here are some of the amenities planned this year:
- Custom “Space-themed” Medal and a photo opportunity area to recognize and commemorate your accomplishment
- Start your race to the roar of a rocket launch countdown and liftoff on the Jumbotron
- The Health & Fitness Expo will be held at Radisson Resort at the Port, Conference Center.
- “Space” Props along course and at finish line area
- “Space” Themed Water/Aid Stations all along course
- Volunteers in NASA-like uniforms and hats
- Photo opportunity with astronauts walking around the race site
- Opportunity to win a “One Day Space Adventure” for up to a family of four
- All registrants will now receive a Moonpie at the Health & Fitness Expo the day before race day
The 2019 Health & Fitness Expo will be held at the Radisson Resort at the Port, Conference Center, located at 8701 Astronaut Boulevard in Cape Canaveral.
Exhibitors will feature the newest designs in running gear, as well as the latest developments in sports, fitness and nutrition. Race packet pickup is also available during the expo. This 1-day Expo is open to the public, so bring your friends and family.
