seventh all-time meeting between the Panthers and Tigers

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Coming off four straight losses, the Florida Tech football team will try to end its recent skid when the Panthers go up against Gulf South Conference foe West Alabama on Saturday at Panther Stadium.
Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
Tech is 3-5 this season and 1-4 in GSC play after falling to Coastal Classic rival, No. 20 West Florida by the score of 38-14 during last week’s Homecoming Game.
UWA holds a 4-4 record and a 1-4 mark in the league. The Tigers head into Saturday’s matchup on their own two-game losing streak, dropping the last two contests against Delta State (7-14) and West Georgia (17-33).
INSIDE THE SERIES
Saturday’s game is the seventh all-time meeting between the Panthers and Tigers. This has been quite a competitive series with the teams splitting the first six contests with five of those games decided by 10 points or less.
The last time Tech and UWA met in Melbourne the Panthers knocked off the No. 18 Tigers, 41-39, on Oct. 21, 2017. A touchdown run by Mark Cato in the final minute was the difference as Tech took down the top team in the GSC at that time in the season.
Florida Tech is 2-1 all-time on its home field against West Alabama, also earning a 24-13 win on Oct. 10, 2015. The Tigers’ lone win on the Space Coast came in a 45-3 decision during the Panthers’ inaugural season.
