BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE BEACH, FLORIDA – Matt Kechele is no stranger to surf culture. Growing up in the deeply-rooted surf era of 1960’s Cocoa Beach, Matt says falling in love with surfing was inevitable.

He learned to surf on the same beaches as world surf champion, Kelly Slater and went on to be a professional surfer himself.

After a successful career in professional surfing, Kechele realized that shaping hand-crafted boards for his own surf competitions was always a part of what drove his passion for the sport.

Today, he is the proud owner of Kechele Surfboards in Melbourne Beach, one of the last true heritage surfboard builders left in the United States.

“The Space Coast has really lent itself to drawing talented people in…I’ve traveled all over the world and I love calling Brevard County home,” said Kechele.
