Former Cocoa Tigers Taylor, Gardner-Johnson Selected to Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Former Cocoa Tigers and Florida Gators Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Jawaan Taylor have been selected to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team for their outstanding play during the 2019 National Football League season.
Chauncey Gardner-Johnson played in all 16 games, starting in seven at defensive back for the New Orleans Saints. He had 46 tackles, one interception, forced one fumble, four quarterback hits and defended 8 passes.
Gardner-Johnson, the Saints’ fourth-round pick, made his first NFL pick against the Falcons on Thanksgiving and against the Titans in Week 16, when he was filling in for Vonn Bell at safety, he forced and recovered a fumble and returned it 37 yards.
Taylor, a 6-foot-5-inch, 328-pound offensive tackle, was selected 35th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After signing a $7.8 million contract with the Jags, the 22-year-old played all 1,091 offensive snaps during his rookie season, a number that led all rookies.
