Twin Lakes Park playground was destroyed in an arson fire in July 2019

The Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Department has completed the installation of a new playground at Goode Park, located at 1300 Bianca Drive NE in Palm Bay. The new Goode Park playground is intended to replace the playground at Twin Lakes Park that was destroyed in an arson fire in July 2019.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Department has completed the installation of a new playground at Goode Park, located at 1300 Bianca Drive NE in Palm Bay.

Construction on the new playground began last week and finished up over the weekend. As of Monday, the playground is open for the public to enjoy.

The new Goode Park playground is intended to replace the playground at Twin Lakes Park that was destroyed in an arson fire in July 2019.

The playground was rebuilt in a new location about a half-mile north on Bianca Drive to take advantage of the existing facilities at Goode Park.

“We felt that moving the playground to Goode Park was a better choice because of the increased amenities at that location,” said Fred Poppe, Palm Bay Parks & Recreation Department Director. “The new location is close to restroom facilities, parking, a pavilion, more seating, and more shade.”

The new playground was paid for with the funds from the insurance settlement received due to the old playground being destroyed by fire.
