UPDATE: Brevard Sheriff’s Office Responds to Deputy-Involved Shooting Incident in Front of Merritt Island 7-Eleven

BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is currently on the scene of a deputy-involved shooting incident that happened in front of a 7-Eleven in Merritt Island off of State Road 520, located at 400 W. Merritt Island Causeway.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m.

According to an eyewitness, “the suspect tried to carjack three separate individual vehicles at gunpoint starting with one vehicle at a gas pump at the 7-Eleven, then ran out in the road tried to car jack another car that wasn’t successful.”

“The suspect then attempted to carjack a third vehicle, but was shot by police.”

Motorists should use caution when approaching the area and should find an alternate route to avoid delays.

“The investigation will have a great impact on traffic in that area and it is advised that citizens try to avoid the area if possible,” said Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. “Traffic will be rerouted.”
