BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools Information and Technology Director Tom Fitzgerald is the “Heart of Brevard” because of his contributions to the veteran community.

Fitzgerald and his wife Denise are veteran advocates and volunteers with the Brevard County Sheriff’s office.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, obtaining the rank of Sergeant.

Fitzgerald is a volunteer for Cape Canaveral National Cemetery Volunteer Support Committee, the Marine Corps League, American Legion and the Veterans Memorial Center in Merritt Island.

It was the loss of his only sibling brother that led him to volunteer at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery by providing veteran escorts with the caisson team.

The “Vietnam Veterans Welcome Home” will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on Saturday, March 28 at 10 a.m.

Fitzgerald is retiring from Brevard Public Schools this May to give even more time to this worthy cause.
