How to Use Your Time in Lockdown to Plan Your Future Travel Adventures

By  //  April 29, 2020

In 2020, we’ve all been dealt a pretty bad hand and there’s no getting around that. This is particularly true for those of us with itchy feet who love nothing more than to jet off on a foreign adventure.

In 2020, we’ve all been dealt a pretty bad hand and there’s no getting around that. This is particularly true for those of us with itchy feet who love nothing more than to jet off on a foreign adventure.

For the foreseeable future, global travel plans have been almost entirely scuppered and many of us have been forced into lockdown with little to occupy our days.

So, why not use this opportunity not to dwell on what you‘re not able to do right now but what you will be able to do (and where you will be able to go) in the future?

Use your lockdown to plan your next trip, whether you’re planning on travelling to London Bridge or Machu Pichu using our top tips.

Do your research

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to several airlines slashing schedules, laying off employees and, in some cases, even going under entirely.

Use this time to do some research on the airlines that have been affected – what airlines are offering the best deals and, most importantly, what are the airline cancellation policies? You could net yourself a risk-free bargain if you’re savvy enough and are willing to read the fine print.

Consider domestic travel

There’s every possibility that it will be many many months before the airlines get back up and running at full speed, so why not consider a domestic holiday? Travel might be restricted right now, but once the lockdown rules start to loosen, it will be domestic travel that recovers first.

You might have looked down at a holiday in your home country before, but you might be surprised just what it has to offer.

Learn from mistakes

There are millions of people who have been cast adrift by the coronavirus crisis and left in a situation where their travel insurance might not have covered the pandemic.

Don’t make that mistake again. Take this time to invest in some quality travel insurance that has been altered to take the pandemic (and events like it) into account.

Deals deals deals

It might seem callous, somehow, to make the best of such a bad situation, but the one silver lining of coronavirus might be the obscene amount of travel deals that are bound to erupt in its wake.

Already, we’re seeing incredible deals for holidays scheduled to take place at the end of the year and it’s only a matter of time before those deals start moving on to next summer too.

Of course, there will always be an element of risk here, as none of us has any idea how and when this pandemic will end. But who dares wins!
