BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Reserve Deputy Joe Downs visited the Pediatric Center at Holmes Regional to wish a speedy recovery to those who are there under a doctor’s care.

In order to make these visits happen, Joe works hand in hand with Eileen Lloyd Mouria, the Volunteer Coordinator at Holmes who was instrumental in bringing the original idea to the Board for approval.

During his visits, Deputy Downs presents each child with a bag full of items such as a “Junny” coloring book and other Sheriff’s Office items to hopefully make their stay a little brighter.

In addition, with the assistance of Kohl’s Assistant Store Manager, Lori Cintron, Kohl’s of Viera Department Store donated a large supply of stuffed animals and books to help fill the gift bags for the children as well. (BCSO image)

Chick-fil-A of Palm Bay, owners Scott and Sandy Washburn, and General Managers David and Shelly Walton of the store also provide gift cards for the parents of the children to help make their life and stay at the hospital easier.

This is an amazing program that is another perfect example of what happens when Law Enforcement and local businesses partner together to do great things for their community.

I could not be more proud of Joe for his amazing commitment to lifting the spirits of children and their families in our community and the great partnership we have between Holmes Regional Medical Center, Kohl’s of Viera and Chick-fil-A of Palm Bay.
