SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING ISSUED: Expect Numerous Lightning Storms Across East Central Florida Monday Afternoon

Numerous showers and lightning storms will continue to overspread east-central Florida from west to east. Storm motion will be to the east to northeast at around 20 to 25 mph but some storms may be slower and more erratic where boundary interactions occur. Stronger storms this afternoon will be capable of wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph, frequent lightning strikes, and torrential rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches within an hour. (NWS image)

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Numerous showers and lightning storms will continue to overspread east-central Florida from west to east.

Storm motion will be to the east to northeast at around 20 to 25 mph but some storms may be slower and more erratic where boundary interactions occur.

Stronger storms this afternoon will be capable of wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph, frequent lightning strikes, and torrential rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches within an hour.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a  Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northern Brevard County in east-central Florida until 5:30 p.m.
