BREVARD PUBLIC SCHOOLS BEGINS TODAY

BPS Superintendent Dr. Mark Mullins delivers a welcome back message to BPS families Sunday night as students get ready to return to school on Monday: We will reopen our doors and our hearts to your children as we welcome them back for the start of a new, yet very different, school year.

“We understand you have apprehensions and concerns about the year ahead which don’t make returning easy, but I want you to know we are ready.”

Good Evening BPS Families,

On Monday, we will reopen our doors and our hearts to your children as we welcome them back for the start of a new, yet very different, school year.

Although the usual first-day jitters will likely be amplified, I’m sure your child will be eager to see familiar faces and reconnect with friends and even routine — whether they are returning to a classroom or eLearning from home — and I know some 5,000 teachers who are so excited to see them!

We understand you have apprehensions and concerns about the year ahead which don’t make returning easy, but I want you to know we are ready.

Our team has been working tirelessly to prepare our schools and systems for this next chapter of this “new normal.” We want the return to learning to be as safe and stress-free as possible for our kids and our families.

Our first few days will no doubt have its challenges. Our teachers and staff will be balancing new safety measures as they embrace new ways of teaching and interacting with their students. Please be understanding and supportive of the journey that lies ahead of them.

We expect everyone to follow the protocols we have put in place for the protection of our students and staff. If you are sending your child to school, please make sure they’re wearing a mask.

If your child is eLearning from home, please practice patience and flexibility as our teachers adjust to new technology and communications platforms.

It’s going to take a commitment from all of us to act reasonably, responsibly and respectfully as we work to keep everyone healthy and safe while delivering the high-quality education and support systems you expect and your kids deserve.

Our students are resilient, our team is resourceful, our families are devoted, and our community is strong. Together, we will rise above these tough times as we strive for normalcy and better days ahead.

I thank you for the trust you’ve placed in us to continue to teach, enrich and inspire your kids.

We can’t wait to see them tomorrow and get back to learning.

Have a great first day!
