How to Keep Good Posture During 8 Hour Working Day

By  //  November 24, 2020

It doesn’t matter whether you work from home or in an office. Keeping a good posture is crucial to your health. Moreover, now, it is not as demanding as you can imagine.

The main thing is to get an electric standing desk. With it, you can be healthy and feel a boost of energy even after a long working day.

Adjust the Desk Properly

The very first thing to do is to adjust your standing desk.

Your elbows shall be bent under the 90-degree angle.

The legs shall be straight but not tense, you shall be able to shift your weight from one leg to another without effort.

The monitor shall be at the level of your eyes. We mean the monitor central part, not the top or bottom areas.

Such an adjustment might be problematic if you have a laptop. In most cases, you would need a separate keyboard.

Do Exercises

Doing exercises is a must if you want to keep your posture in proper condition. Let alone the health condition: without movement, it will be deteriorating constantly.

Even if you work in an office and are pretty shy, a height-adjustable desk offers you a nice opportunity to make simple exercises without interrupting the work process. Don’t worry, nobody will see you are working out!

Exercise 1: toes lifts

In a standing position, raise on your toes. Your legs shall be straight. Stay in the position for a couple of seconds. Move back to the normal position. Repeat the exercise 8-10 times.

Exercise 2: hands up!

You don’t need to wait till you come home to exercise! In a standing position, lift your arms and stretch them as much as you can. You can hold a bottle of water if you want a more significant effect. Place the arms in the initial position. Repeat the exercise 6-8 times.

Now, when you got used to exercising in the office, you can move on to more complex exercises. They are even more beneficial, of course. Moreover, once your colleagues see the results, they will be intrigued and might want to join you.

Exercise 3: bend and point

Now, you can move on with other exercises. One of them is a so-called bend and point exercise. For this exercise, you need to stand up.

Now, bend your knees slightly. Your quads shall be slightly tightened up.

Start lifting your foot forward. Point the toe. Wait some seconds.

After that, bring the right foot back.

Extend it again, this time, to the side.

All this shall be done without touching the ground. Now, repeat the same but this time, you end up with foot extension backward. Repeat the same with the other foot.

Doing exercises regularly will help you to keep fit and in a good shape. Moreover, your posture will improve significantly.

Of course, just these exercises aren’t sufficient to keep your health in proper condition. Thus, you need to check what else you can do when working at your new standing desk. With time, the result will become evident.
