BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the death of former Cocoa Mayor Jake Williams.
BCSO deputies responded earlier this afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. to a residence in unincorporated Cocoa in reference to a man who was unresponsive.
Upon the arrival of Deputies and Paramedics, Williams was pronounced dead.
The investigation is in its initial stages and is being handled by the Homicide Unit of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office.
At this time, there is no evidence to suggest foul play and the Sheriff’s Office will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
“Today was a big loss for the Citizens of Cocoa,” said former Cocoa Mayor Henry Parrish.
“Mayor Jake Williams, like so many of us, has worked very hard to improve our great city. He cared. We had some great conversations over the years on where our city needs to go in the future. Prayers to his family. Rest In Peace Mayor.”
Williams, 60, was a retired space worker and disabled Air Force veteran who was elected as mayor of Cocoa in 2018 and a former City Council member.
