ORLANDO, FLORIDA – Former Viera Hawk and current UCF Knight wide receiver Tre Nixon officially declared for the NFL Draft on Tuesday via social media.
Nixon becomes the second UCF wideout to declare for the draft after Marlon Williams declared last month.
The decision comes as a small surprise after Nixon spent most of the 2020 season recovering from a dislocated collarbone he suffered in the first game against Georgia Tech.

In 2020, Nixon caught 19 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns. However, when Nixon was healthy in 2019, he caught 49 passes for 830 yards and seven touchdowns.
Nixon has been known for his big downfield threat and has great acceleration and speed that translates well for the NFL. Experts see Nixon potentially fitting in as an NFL slot wide receiver.
At 6-feet-2-inches tall and weighing in at 180-pounds, he also has size to go along with his speed.
In lead up to the draft, Nixon will now begin training for the NFL Combine set in Indianapolis at Grand Park Event Center, March 8-11.
The NFL draft is scheduled to be held from April 29 through May 1, in Cleveland, Ohio, and depending on his NFL Combine results, many NFL Draft experts have Nixon set for a 4-7 round pick with potential to be a second-day pick (Round 2-3) if he has a great workout at the NFL combine.
According to NFL Draft analyst site Walter Football, Nixon is ranked as the 25th-best receiver in the class, which is widely considered to be one of the deepest receiver classes in recent memory.

Nixon was UCF’s second-leading receiver in 2019 with 49 catches for 830 yards and seven touchdowns.
An honorable mention all-conference selection, he had 15 receptions of 20 or more yards – the third-most plays of 20+ yards by any player on the team.
Nixon has started all 26 games at wide receiver during his tenure as a Knight, having caught 40 passes for 562 yards and four touchdowns in 2018.

Prior to attending UCF, Nixon spent two seasons at the University of Mississippi and saw action in 10 games during the 2017 season after being Redshirted in 2016.
At Viera high, Nixon caught 79 passes for 1,243 yards and 18 touchdowns – both school records – in his senior year in 2015. Other honors during his stellar prep career included:
• Finished fourth in the voting for Florida’s Mr. Football award
• Florida Dairy Farmers 7A Player of the Year
• Named first-team All-State by the Associated Press and USA Today
• Led Viera to its first two district titles and the 2015 Class 7A state finals
• Had 36 catches for 905 yards and 12 TDs as a junior and 30 catches for 636 yards and six TDs as a sophomore
