BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Viera Elementary Falcons are exploring the world of robotics in the VES Northrup Grumman STEM Lab.

These hands-on activities are part of a new program through FIRST and their innovative School Pack systems and coding programs.

This initiative is the direct result of a strong partnership developed between Viera High School’s Hawk Robotics team (FRC #7431 Wingspan) and VES administrators.

Originally, Hawk Robotics “adopted” the Falcons and planned to start a team as an after school club/activity, to coincide with the school’s August opening.

However, due to the COVID-19 crisis, the launch had to be postponed. Instead, the school used funds earmarked to establish the VES team and purchase the FIRST School Pack and other related supplies.

Excitement is building for the program’s official launch in the 2021-22 school year.

A similar initiative/partnership between Hawk Robotics and Endeavour Elementary Magnet School in Cocoa is underway through a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Grant awarded through and funded by FIRST.
