ABOVE VIDEO: Kelly Slater’s day got even better on Sunday after he advanced to the semifinals of the Billabong Pipe Masters after defeating South Africa’s Jordy Smith.

NORTH SHORE, HAWAII – Kelly Slater fell short in the semifinals to fellow legendary surfer John John Florence at the Billabong Pipe Masters in Hawaii.

PREVIOUS STORY

Kelly Slater’s day got even better on Sunday after he advanced to the semifinals of the Billabong Pipe Masters after defeating South Africa’s Jordy Smith.

While it was not a high scoring affair, Slater took advantage of some early swells to defeat Smith 6.23-1.90.

The semifinals are expected to take place later today if weather cooperates. However, the women’s quarterfinal has priority before the men’s semifinal.

PREVIOUS STORY

Earlier today, Cocoa Beach native Kelly Slater advanced to the quarterfinals Sunday afternoon at the Billabong Pipe Masters presented by Hydro Flask in Hawaii.

Slater defeated Australia’s Jack Robinson by a score of 13.67-11.67.

The quarterfinal is expected to take place later today, pending weather.
